Some of the Best Poker Rooms offer their future players
extensive information about the Game of Poker.
|
 |
They offer the latest in the most exciting form of
online poker: Multi-Player Texas Holdem Poker. At their holdem poker tables, you
don't play cards against the House or against a professional Card Dealer.
Instead, you play Texas holdem poker against other online holdem players -
people just like you who come from all over the world to pit their luck and
holdem poker skills against each other.
| Be sure to visit their LEARNING ROOM.
It's fun, it's easy and there is no pressure because you're playing
poker against their three automated poker trainers, not other poker
players. Take your time to learn the game controls and flow of play in a
relaxed environment. It's Free Poker Play, and you can use the Texas
Holdem Poker Training Room as often as you like. |
Tip: Having other
holdem poker players at the table allows you to use a tool that doesn't work
against a Video Poker machine: bluffing.
You might bet big to scare opponents into throwing away a better online poker
hand when you have a poor holdem poker hand, or you might bet low to keep
opponents in play and adding to the pot when you have a great hand. Either way,
bluffing in online holdem poker adds a whole new element
of excitement you can't get any other way.

Glossary:
Burn a Card - Before dealing cards in a round
(Pocket Cards, the Flop, etc.) the Dealer "burns a card", meaning he discards
the top card of the deck and uses the next card for the deal.
Blinds - To start the game, the player to the left
of the Dealer puts up the Small Blind (which is usually half the minimum bet)
and the player to his left posts the Big Blind (equal to the minimum bet). This
gets the pot started and encourages other players to place bets. They are called
"blinds" because these bets are made before any cards are seen. |

Glossary:
All-in - A player who bets all the chips he or she
has left at table. Other players still active in the hand can bet and raise
beyond that player's All-in amount, and the All-in player is not obligated to
meet or call those bets. However, the All-in player is only eligible to win the
pot up to the point it was when he went All-in and called by all remaining
players. Any bets or raises made beyond that point constitute a side pot which
is contested by those remaining players.
The Showdown - The Showdown occurs after betting
concludes. The remaining players compare the best five-card poker hands they
make using any combination of their 2 pocket cards and the 5 common cards. The
player with the highest hand rank takes the pot. Occasionally, two or more
players will have hands of equal rank or the best possible hand is comprised
using all 5 common cards. In these cases, the players involved share the pot. |
